This Black Woman Invented The World's First Game-Changing Eyewear Product

Eyeglass cleaning has never been the same since Eyeglass EGGs hit the market. Behind this groundbreaking invention is a visionary entrepreneur with a dynamic background in tech, fitness, and audiobook narration. In this exclusive interview, we speak with Dori Young, the founder of Clean Peepers, who shares how she turned a simple yet genius idea into a thriving business—while honoring her family’s legacy and inspiring the next generation of Black inventors.

From Concept to Invention to Company

Before launching Clean Peepers, Young considered licensing her design rather than building a company from the ground up. However, a powerful realization shifted her course.

“I realized I had a chance to make history while also making my dream of working for myself a reality when I discovered there wasn’t another product like mine on the market. It makes me proud to have joined the long line of Black inventors, knowing I’m building a legacy for my family.”

Her journey wasn’t without challenges. Despite struggling with math due to Dyscalculia and competing with those with advanced degrees, she leaned into her resilience, seizing every opportunity to bring her vision to life.

A Smarter Way to Clean Your Glasses

Unlike traditional microfiber cloths, Eyeglass EGGs solves a problem many glasses-wearers suffer through—dirty edges, ineffective cloths, and smudging issues that traditional methods only make worse.

“Eyeglass EGGs have a game-changing, patent-pending mitt design that fits on your hand to quickly and effectively clean your entire lens. We offer products for both quick cleaning and deep cleansing.”

The product line also includes a Twist-up Mister for applying eyeglass cleaner, a telescoping Drying/Storage Capsule, Mini Backpacks, and Active Pouches for protection and portability. Every detail is designed with convenience in mind, ensuring glasses stay spotless wherever you go.

A Family Legacy of Strength and Creativity

Entrepreneurship is in Young's DNA. Her late parents played a huge role in shaping her approach to business.

“My father, a successful Black man in upper corporate management and a veteran, was always looking for opportunities to level up. I never once heard him complain about racism in corporate America, even though I know he faced it daily. That instilled in me the mindset that being Black or a woman would never be a limitation.”

From her mother, she inherited the art of relationship-building and creativity—qualities that now shape the Clean Peepers brand.

“My mother valued people first. She treated everyone like family. She also found time to express her creativity through crafting, which inspired me to be bold in creating innovative products.”

The Moment Eyeglass EGGs Became a Must-Have

Young knew she was onto something when early testers refused to go back to regular eyeglass cloths.

“An optometrist and her optician were giving us feedback on the product, and it turned into a sales inquiry. Before I could even explain the details, the optician said, ‘I love it! When can I get it?’ That was a game-changing moment. We realized there was a strong B2B market for our product.”

Marketing & Scaling: The Power of Digital Visibility

Clean Peepers has leveraged the power of digital marketing to generate buzz.

“Videos and reels showing the product in action have been our most effective marketing tools. The products really sell themselves—once people who wear glasses see them, the response is usually, ‘I need one!’”

Bringing Eyeglass EGGs to market was a learning curve, but she encourages aspiring product entrepreneurs to start small, research, and test their ideas before investing heavily.

“Now is the best time to launch a product because of the many tools and resources available. Use the internet to study successful brands and analyze competitors—not just to learn what to do, but also what NOT to do.”

Balancing Business, Passions, and Motherhood

Being a tech leader, entrepreneur, Zumba instructor, audiobook narrator, and single mother requires serious time management. But she embraces her “and not or” approach to life.

“Doing all these things actually keeps me balanced. I think in terms of 15-minute productivity blocks—many things can be started AND completed in just 15 minutes.”

She also hopes her son is watching and learning the importance of resilience.

“You HAVE to figure things out when it’s just you. I hope my son sees the value of believing and investing in yourself—and never allowing someone else’s lack of vision to limit you.”

What’s Next for Clean Peepers?

With demand growing, Clean Peepers is gearing up for an exciting launch.

“We’re opening for pre-orders next month, and our first products will ship by early summer. After that, we’ll begin designing our men’s line—because they’re already asking for it!”

With innovation, purpose, and an inspiring journey behind her invention, Dori Young is not just changing how we clean our glasses, she's redefining what it means to build a legacy and making history in the process.
