The 2nd annual OBWS Black Entrepreneur of the Year Awards kicks off today! Presented by Snap Inc. and Clover®, the awards aim to highlight, celebrate, and provide equity-free funding to deserving Black entrepreneurs.
Official Black Wall Street founder and CEO, Mandy Bowman, shares that "Black entrepreneurs are the backbone of our community. We stand by our commitment to support their hard work with the support of our partners from Snap Inc. and Clover®."
While Bowman served on the panel of judges for the inaugural awards last August, this year's finalists will be selected by a new panel of judges including Kenny Mitchell (CMO at Snap Inc.), Dawn Dickson-Akpoghene (Founder of Popcom & 2020 Black Entrepreneur of the Year winner), Rashaad Lambert (Director of Culture & Community at Forbes), Ryan Wilson (CEO and co-founder of The Gathering Spot), and Tasha Helm (Director, Corporate Citizenship, Fiserv). The winners will be peer-selected and announced later in August.

An open call for nominations begins now where entrepreneurs can self-nominate or be nominated by their peers at https://awards2021.obws.com until the deadline on Sunday, August 1, 2021 at 11:59PM.
In 2020, $30,000 was awarded to three winners. This year, a total of $55,000 will be awarded across three categories.
