Kai Cenat is arguably one of the most popular streamers in the world today. With over 20 million followers across all of his social media platforms, Forbes named him one of the top-earning creators in 2024, with estimated earnings of $8.6 million.

In November 2024, Cenat broke the record for the highest number of subscribers on Twitch during Mafiathon 2, a nonstop, month-long subathon, in which Cenat live streamed 24 hours a day for 30 days. The stream featured appearances from celebrities such as Lil Uzi Vert, Snoop Dogg, Bill Nye The Science Guy and Kevin Hart. Cenat pledged that 20% of all earnings would go toward the construction of a school in Makoko, Nigeria.

During a live stream in February 2025, Kai Cenat hinted at the idea of renting out a university for a weekend to help aspiring streamers. On May 6, he made it official with the release of a cinematic trailer, inspired by Harry Potter, unveiling Streamer University and extending a warm welcome to its very first class. Introducing himself as Headmaster, Cenat declared “here you will find a school where chaos is encouraged, and content is king.”

And as with nearly everything Kai Cenat touches, the initiative quickly gained traction, going viral almost instantly. Within minutes of opening enrollment, the Streamer University website received over one million applications, with some users getting an error message because of the high traffic. Despite the overwhelming interest, only approximately 150 participants will be accepted to the first session.

Although the details about the location and dates have not yet been announced, Cenat has teased the possible involvement of other major creators such as MrBeast and Mark Rober as teachers for some of the classes. According to Cenat’s posts on social media, the program will be completely free for participants, with their travel, accommodation and access to sessions being fully funded.

Streamer University is envisioned as a weekend-long content creation school that will bring together aspiring content creators to learn and collaborate in a hands-on environment. As per the website, streamers of all backgrounds will have the opportunity to showcase their personalities as students, alongside both unrealized, upcoming and well-established creators. In addition to providing forms for prospective students to enroll, the website also includes applications for those interested in joining as professors.

As anticipation builds ahead of the first session, one thing is clear—Cenat's vision extends far beyond viral moments. Through this initiative, he is opening the door for aspiring creators of all kinds.
