There’s something unmistakable about the laundromat experience in New York City. Whether you’re scheduling a pick up and drop-off or personally hauling your rolling cart down the block to your neighborhood spot, laundromats mark a familiar rhythm of the city life and are deeply woven into our own routines.
But beyond convenience (and necessity), we tend to overlook the fact that laundromats are places where community and culture quietly intersect. Many Black-owned laundromats have been holding communities down for years, serving as dependable neighborhood anchors where familiarity runs deep. We know the people who work there by name, often lingering a little longer to chat with them, not just to make polite small talk, but because of genuine connection.
This year, we’re encouraging intention behind every choice and Spin With Us is your guide to making that intention count when deciding where to do your laundry. When it comes to Black-owned businesses that consistently show up for us, the only way to support them is to keep showing up in return and, in this case, we do that one load at a time.
Stuy Wash N Dry

A Black-owned, woman-owned, and family-owned laundromat, Stuy Wash N Dry has multiple locations across Bed-Stuy, and offers a range of services, such as wash and fold, sneaker cleaning and dry cleaning, as well as pick up and delivery.
Celsious

Located in Williamsburg, Celsious was founded by two eco-conscious sisters committed to sustainability in every wash. From bleach-free, plant-based laundry products to energy-efficient commercial washers and dryers, every detail reflects their mission. While they don’t offer self-service washing, Celsious provides drop-off and pick-up and delivery services, with couriers traveling by electric bikes, regular bikes, or even on foot.

Don’s Laundry

Located on Hollis Avenue in Queens, Don’s Laundry was opened by 25-year-old Brandon Hollingsworth in 2025. Growing up, he not only watched his parents own and operate two full-service laundromats, but also help them. Now, with his own laundromat that already offers multiple services such as wash and fold, dry cleaning and pick up and delivery, he is actively planning for its expansion.
